Mankato Free Press: Walz represents health care interests of workers Tim Walz For U.S. Congress
Mankato Free Press: Walz represents health care interests of workers - 3/30/2010

I have been watching the debate in the U.S. Congress over health care reform closely and I am pleased to see that my representative in Congress, Tim Walz, shares the beliefs of myself and most southern Minnesotans and is fighting in Washington to make them a reality.

Both my employer and I pay a lot of money to make sure that when I need to see a doctor the health care treatments I need will be covered by my insurance. My continual worry is that when I finally need to use my health insurance the insurance company will deny me based on some frivolous pre- existing condition, like acne, or will simply drop me as a customer. We’ve all heard stories like this and we all agree that no one should have to worry about this.

Walz has helped to make this a reality by vigorously supporting health care reform.

I believe that our health care professionals should be rewarded based on the quality of care they give.

Unfortunately, the system currently does not work like that. Minnesota has the best health care system in the nation, especially the Mayo system here in southern Minnesota, but the federal government reimburses other states better despite lower quality.

Walz has spearheaded efforts in Congress to pay hospitals based on the quality of care they give.

I am pleased that I have someone representing me in Washington who shares my beliefs and concerns. Keep up the good work, Tim.
